A trip to Freetown, Sierra Leone with Duval Timothy
Earlier this month, Duval Timothy headed out to Freetown, Sierra Leone – his father’s home country – with director Edem Wornoo.
While there, Timothy and Wornoo filmed a live rendition of Free Rain, with Timothy – who is based between Freetown, Sierra Leone and London, UK – performing the track from his 2018 2 Sim release which explores his dual nationality and identity as a person with multiple residencies.
During the recent trip to Freetown, Timothy also oversaw the making of a limited edition run of hand-woven scarves – a collaboration between Carrying Colour and Crack Magazine. The scarves were produced by Tamba Thomas at his workshop in Sierra Leone.
Watch the Wornoo-directed video – produced by Ground Work and Duval Timothy – and get a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the hand-woven scarves below.
